Yoga for Depression: Motivation and Trust

Yoga is an excellent motivational tool. When you consider starting your day with Yoga meditation, Pranayama, Japa, Yoga postures (Asanas), warm-ups, Sun Salutations, or a combination of any of these - Yoga offers many useful motivation techniques for all of us.

However, some of us like to sleep late, skip work, unplug the phone, and wonder where the day went. This lack of stress can cause depression. This is not an endorsement of a stressful lifestyle, but the reality is: We all require a little daily stress to stimulate, strengthen, and motivate ourselves.

How could an early morning Yoga meditation create motivation for the entire day? There are many types of meditation to choose from, but you could choose a form of positive visualization to raise your level of motivation.

This will require you to set aside a little time and solitude. You could start with a 15 minute Yoga meditation session and allow your mind some forgiveness - if it wanders. Do not judge your mind or any distractions around you.

This is a key to Yogic meditation, and Yoga in general: Be mindful, be kind, do not judge anything, avoid extremes, and live life in moderation. The purpose of your meditation will be aided - if you write down your goals, for the day, and meditate.

With this form of Yogic meditation, you will be pleasantly surprised with how often you accomplish your daily objectives. Keep in mind that Yoga meditation is just one technique to stimulate motivation. Pranayama, Japa, Asana, and Sun Salutations, all work well for stimulating the body and mind.

Another factor, which causes depression, is lack of trust in others, and from deep within our inner being. We must believe in ourselves before we have faith in others. This lack of trust can cause a form of scaring to our physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Can Yoga turn any of us into "eternal optimists?" The answer is, "maybe." Most eternal optimists are born that way; but optimism can be conditioned, and you have the power to harness it, if you want to.

A Yoga student asks, "Teach me about self-empowerment." The lessons are within all forms of Yoga, but you will find more answers within Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Raja Yoga, and Karma Yoga.

Most Yoga students, outside of India, practice Hatha Yoga sub-styles. This is fine - but are you learning anything beyond the physical aspects of Yoga? Yoga is a vast topic, with solutions to many of today's health problems.

However, can the world learn to trust a 5,000 year old health maintenance system, with a proven track record of success? On a global scale, most of the world's population still seeks short-term health solutions in the form of pills.

Sometimes prescriptions are required; especially, in the case of severe depression. It is promising that Western medicine now embraces Yoga as an alternative therapy. This will create an evolution in health care which will improve the quality of life for humanity.

How To Use Yoga Nidra To Combat Night Terrors

Western physicians are now investigating a practice called Yoga Nidra, which means "yogic sleep." This Tantric method is an all-natural, holistic way to achieve uninterrupted, relaxed and healthy sleep each night. It may even be a successful treatment for those who Yoganidra experience night terrors and other serious sleep disturbances.

Night terrors is the name for a serious sleep disturbance. The families of those who experience night terrors are often frightened and confused. During an episode, a person is sleeping soundly one moment, then suddenly standing in the middle of the bed screaming or flailing about.

During night terrors, a person may look wild-eyed around the room, sweating and breathing heavily. They may cry inconsolably, scream in fear or run around the house. They remain sound asleep during the episode however, unaware of the commotion they cause.

Night terrors happen to only a small number of children and even fewer adults. While children usually outgrow night terrors, sometimes the problem continues into adulthood.

An Old Method May Combat Sleep Disorders

This Tantric method to promote restful sleep translates from the Sanskrit as yogic sleep. It is a highly developed system for promoting deep, full-body relaxation.

The relaxation technique involves 20 to 45 minutes of mental imagery guided by an experienced instructor. Eventually the subject reaches a deep meditative state. The yoga community believes this state will release negative emotions and patterns of thought, calming the nervous system and leading to sleep.

The practice also may work for the following conditions which can include disturbed sleep.

Insomnia

Depression

Anxiety

Chronic pain

Chemical dependency

Post-traumatic stress disorder

Why This System May Work for Sleep Disorders

The guided exercises focus a person's awareness on their entire body, following a special sequential order. This prescribed order follows a deliberate path that enables the greatest relaxation. Those who use the yogic system find that nightly practice helps them reach this relaxed state more easily.

Some Tantric masters reach an altered state of sleep called waking sleep. A deep trance is necessary to reach the state of waking sleep. While in the trance, the yogic master sleeps deeply and at the same time remains perfectly aware of the immediate surroundings. Legends say that one hour of waking sleep is the equal of several hours of normal sleep.

Trying Yogic Practice Might Help Anyone

There are no obvious safety risks as a result of using this yogic sleep method. The sessions are drug free, eliminating the chances of dangerous interactions or dependencies. Even children can safely use this system.

Those who experience night terrors or other sleep disturbances may wish to conduct a short trial, using this system for a few months. Local yoga studios might have experienced instructors who use the system's guided imagery techniques. If there are no local classes, several instructors have recorded sessions for online use. One can use CDs or digital recordings by a favorite guide each night at the bedside.

The Yoga Nidra practice is easy and safe for anyone, from a preschooler to a 100-year-old. Who knows? It just might work! Getting enough restful sleep each night is certainly worth giving this deep relaxation method a try.

Yoga of Devotion :Bhakti Yoga

Image result for bhakti yoga

Yoga is that which connects. The process of connecting the Soul to the Divine in a proper bond is called Yoga. Bhakti represents the path of pure devotion.

Jnana yoga is knowing about the Divine through knowledge. Karma Yoga is the process of performing activity. Bhakti yoga is the process of falling in love with the Divine.

We can understand this by a small mundane example. Whenever a person likes someone there are a few steps the person follows. Firstly one wants to know more about the person. Secondly the person thinks about the beloved and would then like to please the beloved. Similarly in the spiritual realm too, knowing the Divine through knowledge is Jnana Yoga. Thinking about the divine is Dhyaan Yoga and serving the Lord through service is Karma Yoga.

Bhakti means Devotion and Yoga is Joining or Union. So we join to the self within through the process of devotion.

Bhakti Yoga is the yoga of Devotion. It is the practice of having a personal relationship with the Supreme Absolute. It is a deep yearning to experience love in its purest and highest form, to unite with that which is eternal and unchanging.

The Bhakti Sutras explain that bhakti yoga is both the means and the end: It is the way to cultivate and deepen devotion, and is union with the Divine-the ultimate goal.

The path of bhakti yoga allows us to use all of our senses, all of our emotions, and all of our actions to express love in our daily interactions and offer them to whatever form of God suits our individual personalities and cultural upbringing, whether it be Krishna, Christ, Allah, Yahweh, Hanuman, the Divine Mother, or some other aspect.

It is having the courage to face ourselves at the deepest levels of our being, and offer everything we are to the Divine, both the good and the bad, without holding anything back. And it is the complete dedication and surrender of everything we do in our daily lives as acts of worship.

The timeless path of divine love is as alive and relevant today as it was in the days of the ancient sages. Through this path, we can transform our everyday life from the mundane to the sacred, from the trivial to the profound. By cultivating the principles of love, compassion, gratitude, surrender, and selfless service, we can prepare our hearts and minds to receive the grace of unconditional love and wisdom. Then we become the instruments of the Divine, and everything we do is an expression of love and devotion. Our lives become a joyful celebration

How To Make Learning Interesting for anyone

MY nephew is two years old. He is loquacious, mischievous, naughty and what not. Above all he is the apple of our eyes. My sis is planning to admit him in a school this session. She is worried of course; will he get admission in city's most reputed school? How would he perform at interview? How should she and her husband prepare for that particular meeting? All these apprehensions and chaos for admission in a nursery class!

Well, this is the reality of the day. For me it is a crime to send a three-year-old kid to totally unfamiliar surrounding, in the name of educating him. When he should be running after birds and butterflies, he is being taught to count their number in a lifeless book.

When he ought to be making stories out of his own imagination, (whenever it's Manu's turn to tell a story, he improvises the ones he has been told by me or other elders.) and forced to cram and parrot rhymes whose meanings he doesn't know!

It is for the benefit of parents who are anxious to show their child's talent in front of drawing-room gatherings. Neither parents, nor teachers are ready to admit that classroom teaching is not enough to equip a three-year-old to start learning about life.

Conventional schooling stifles curiosity and bland diet from textbooks kills motivation. These two essentials to learning are generally extinguished when, indeed, they should have been fanned to brilliance. A child is shown a picture of kingfisher and is expected to remember it, but how and why should he? Shouldn't the teacher rather take the kids out on a nature walk and show birds, animals and insects that are in abundance in their surroundings? Why is it necessary for them to cram the name of seagull which they've never seen? Why can't they be told about the weaver bird which has made nests on babul tree outside their school or the tiny sunbird which hovers on flowers in their school garden?

Why aren't they told about the trees in their surrounding environment instead of being told about pines, again in entity unfamiliar to them? It's not that everything should be taught by providing a living example in front of kids, but it should be made relevant to them with the help of examples, pictures and stories.

One day I was showing a picture book to kids in my nursery class, there were large pictures of different species of apes and monkeys. For a while we transformed ourselves in to these monkeys and played a game of war. There was total chaos in the class; everybody was shrieking, shouting and crying (including me) trying to sound like real monkeys. When the mayhem subsided, I gathered them around me and told them that very long ago people had tails just like monkeys. I remember that my statement was instantly rebuffed by the little devils. To prove my point, I had to find and show them another book which had man-like creatures with tails. I was obliged with okay nods. And we resumed normal activities. When we got promoted to grade I we had a conversation on how to write an essay in English. I told them that we should write all we know about that animal (the topic). Like what it eats, where it lives, what are its characteristics and in the end you may insert other information like how many legs, eyes....and so on. So we started discussing on this pattern.

And from no where popped up this topic about how to write on man. (In some earlier discussion, I had floated this idea that may be man is an animal too and I was again criticized for not knowing anything!)

And lo! Someone remembered it. That man had a tail long time ago and it disappeared with time. There was a whoop of excitement and everybody started speaking at once.

Why are today's children not being taught to explore, to inquire, to marvel at the beauty of nature that surrounds them? The reason that comes to my mind is that the teachers themselves aren't conversant with such things. In India, many kindergarten teachers have no professional training, have a minimum education and they are generally working as KG teachers because they need money and not because they love the job.

Some of them may be BA, B.Ed. They are always waiting for better opportunities. In defense of these teachers, it may be said that they are paid poor salaries. Let's not blame them if they take their job in a mechanical way. It is the duty of the school management to provide and recruit staff which is capable of handling such impressionable and delicate minds.

So what must be done? First and foremost, a kindergarten teacher should be jack of all trades, be it art and craft, music or story in telling. He should be keen to learn, should plan the day's work ahead create an atmosphere in which the kids feel free to express themselves. It will help them in self-learning.
Try explaining unfamiliar topics with the help of various teaching aids like pictures, story, books, music, masks and puppets. Music can be of great assistance to channelise the kids' energy.

Go on nature walks. Children enjoy being outdoors. No need to pester them (to mug up the name) each time you see a Black Drongo sitting on a wire. Let them enjoy the association with their surrounding. You can tell them all about the fork-tailed black bird when you get back to school. Learn to keep your enthusiasm in check. Kids relish information they can associate with.

Start attending drama classes. Mimicry and buffoonery sometimes play an important role in reaching out to shy and introvert kids

Yoga For Inner Harmony and a State of Happiness

Yoga is most often defined as "union." Harmony can be defined as many things. The most common definitions for harmony would be agreement and compatibility. It is not difficult to see that Yoga, harmony, and happiness can work together for mental and emotional stability.

This leads to a round of questions for us to ponder. What is happiness? Is happiness being successful? How do you define success? As you know, each of us cannot reach a state of happiness in the same way.

Happiness is a positive emotion that we experience when we are in a state of well-being. We could also state that happiness is bliss, contentment, satisfaction, or joy. Some of us can find this same feeling on a warm beach in the tropics.

Yet, many of us also have family and financial obligations that make living permanently, at a warm tropical beach, difficult. At the same time, not everyone is happy at the beach. Again, we realize that happiness is a choice and a personal decision.

Although success is often linked with happiness, you could say that personal happiness is more dependent on a purposeful life, than a successful life. What do I mean by this? Some people are quite content to sleep all day, avoid work, and let others support them. They have no purpose or goals. A few animals and insects also display this behavior.

As humans, we call this behavior "laziness." Most humans are inherently driven to plan, discover, and create. We consider these qualities admirable, but successful people are not always happy. To be successful and sad at the same time is a strange paradox, but it exists.

How is this possible? A successful person may not be living the happy life that he or she envisions. For example: If you are born into a position of social status that you did not choose, you may feel that you are not a success in life. Whether we are rich or poor, anyone can have these feelings.

We have now gone "full circle" in this discussion. Therefore, I ask you, "How do you define success?" The answer to that question should give you a deep sense of contentment. It is worth the time to practice Yoga, meditation, breathe with purpose, and do some soul searching, before you envision your true picture of happiness and success.

In short, happiness requires balance, agreement, and compatibility, with our surrounding environment. You cannot force yourself to be happy, but each form of Yoga can bring about inner harmony and states of happiness

Yoga For Inner and Outer Beauty

No doubt yoga can help a person to become healthy, and fit. If someone practices the postures, does meditation, and follows the yogic prescriptions for eating, sleeping, hygiene and exercise it is almost certain that he or she will end up in great shape and look better.

In fact, our concept of beauty is in large part biological and part of the evolutionary process. Clear skin complexion, for example, is an indicator of good health and for our ancient ancestors it made good sense to choose partners who were healthy and could pass on their genes to future generations.

However the beauty of a person is not just based on physical factors alone. Just as internal physical factors, such as digestion and the proper functioning of physical organs, are reflected in the outer "look" of a person, there are internal psychic and spiritual factors that play a big role in how we feel and how others see us.

Although the physical practices of yoga, such as yoga postures (asanas) are the best known part of yoga, at the heart of yoga is a moral code which defines a way of life in which a person can live in harmony with herself and with society. This set of lifestyle instructions is know as Yama and Niyama.

Yama which means "that which controls" has five parts and the main function of these five practices is to help an individual achieve harmony with his or her external environment. One of the most important parts of Yama is a practice known as Satya.

Satya is loosely defined as "truth" but in fact there is no exact English equivalent for this term. In his book A Guide to Human Conduct, my guru Shrii Shrii Anandamurti defines satya as "action of mind and right use of words in the spirit of welfare." That is, we should do whatever we can to promote the welfare of others, by keeping good thoughts in mind and by speaking in the spirit of helping others.

Someone who practices satya and always keeps positive thoughts in mind develops will power and straightforwardness. This practice is actually going on in the subconscious mind, and results in an internal effulgence or glaze known as Ojas. This inner effulgence is expressed outwardly as a vigor that definitely contributes to the attractiveness of a person. If you practice satya you will achieve a glow that cannot be duplicated or achieved with any kind of makeup!

When you are twenty years old you are helped out by Mother Nature, as the hormones of your body are helping you to blossom and enter your years of peak physical well-being. However, this help from Nature is not indefinite and also must be supported by a proper way of life.

If you practice the outer aspects of yoga (postures, diet, fasting, hygiene) then you will be able to make the most of what God has given to you in the way of a physical body. If you practice the inner aspect of yoga (meditation and balanced conduct) you will bring forth an inner effulgence and beauty that will remain with you long after you physical body begins to wind-down.

Most ideal Way To Tighten A Loose Vagina - The Secret To Making Your Vagina Tighter And Stronger

A loose vagina often occurs after a woman gives birth. The process of delivering a baby stretches a vagina to a great degree, making the pelvic muscles relax leading to loose vagina muscles. The downside is a loose vagina affects sexual satisfaction and decreases the urge to have sex.

A loose vagina is characterized by the vagina emitting a lot of odor, non-closure of vagina during non-aroused state, inability for the vagina to grip the index finger, ability to insert 3 or more fingers into the vagina with no resistance, inability to reach orgasm effectively, inability to provide proper stimulation to your partner, and the requirement for insertion of a larger object to attain sexual stimulation.

Certain benefits of tightening the vagina are: it restores vaginal suppleness, restores vaginal lubrication, restores the strength of vaginal muscles, helps the female overcome inferiority complex, and offers the ability to achieve orgasm during intercourse.

Proper exercises and yoga are the most effective ways to tighten the vaginal muscles. Such exercises are related to the expansion and contraction of vaginal muscles, which will lead to the tightening of the vagina. A common exercise for strengthening and toning vaginal muscles is taking a deep breath and contracting the vagina. Hold on for a few seconds then exhale, releasing the vaginal muscles. Practice this exercise at least 10 counts a day

Lotions and creams made of natural herbs are available and also help in the vagina tightening process. These are proven to be effective and safe in bringing the vagina to its original shape.

Particularly, the best features of such herbal products include: overcoming the problem of vaginal dryness as natural products have estrogen to help restore lubrication, restoring the vagina's suppleness, decreasing excessive mucus, protecting against microbial pathogens, enhancing the vaginal secretion and contracting of vaginal channels.

Other benefits of natural products include contracting the vaginal wall to enhance the pleasure. Such products' anti-inflammatory effects prevent unwanted swelling and unpleasant odor.

When you use these products, you can see results in 30 minutes and cause stimulation of the G-sport and contraction of the vagina. These products are especially effective on the "Bartholon" glands that release estrogen. This causes lubrication and overcomes the problem of vaginal dryness.

An example of such an herbal product is Pueraria mirifica, which works effectively on the problem of vaginal dryness. Vaginal dryness causes sensitiveness, itching, tenderness, irritation, general discomfort and inflammation. Pueraria has phytoestrogen, which helps in duplicating a woman's natural moisture.

Erotic Yoga and Exploring Its Many Sexual Facets For Improved Sex and Masturbation in males & females

Many people are aware that Yoga can be very helpful for relieving stress, enhancing a peace-of-mind state, and helping to embody people with increased health and stamina. What relation may Yoga have to the sexual act? Is Yoga truly a canvas of sexual possibilities that nearly everyone can creatively and enjoyably paint to a colorful and dynamic orgasm?

There are as many forms of Yoga out today as there are cities in the world. Some are based more on traditional texts and teachings that have been around for thousands of years, while others are "new age" inventions that pull from the traditional teachings and mix them with more modern philosophies of thought and exercise.

However, the concept of sex and Yoga being a newly-created concept is hardly true. Sex and Yoga have a long and closely-connected history. For example, some forms of Tantric Yoga have developed specific usage of sex for development of the spirit and for an escape (liberation) from psychologically-common human borders. These higher-states of release are obtained via the sexual act and exploiting its energy for use as a means of spiritual evolution and escape.

Many Yoga postures and practices also deal with methods that enhance the sexual system in the male or female; and also act as an enhancer when such energies have been developed and are employed with a partner (thus making the energy "whole" or more potent). It is not uncommon for people to use Yoga as a method to strengthen their sexual systems, to enjoy more powerful and elated orgasms, and even to aid in helping with impotence, increasing stamina, and erectile dysfunction.

Many Yoga poses are also studied and utilized for varying sexual positions. Many of these positions are to make the sexual act more comfortable for either or both partners. Some are utilized for their angularity of penetration; meaning that they allow entrance to the vagina by the penis in ways that are more stimulating (for one or both partners) and are unavailable to the non-Yoga practitioner. Just a quick glance at the sexual positions in the Kama Sutra will clearly show positions that are much easier obtained when one has a background in Yoga.

The increased flexibility that Yoga offers, certainly adds to the spectrum of different positions that are clearly not possible without having studied and practised this art, science, and philosophy. One extended possibility of increased flexibility is that autosexuality may be finally realized. Whether it is autocunnilingus (women orally stimulating their own vulva) or autofellatio (men orally stimulating their own penises). Ancient statues in India clearly point that this was a form of sexuality that was practiced and realized in its day. Many other ancient cultures have also left behind clues and relics that point to this form of sexuality.
